This role leads the security efforts in alignment with the company's goals for safety and a positive retail experience for all guests.
The Security Specialist ensures no minors are given access to the store by providing regular training and review of how to verify identification.
This role is a security presence with a welcoming tone.
This role can identify and respectfully remove any persons who present a threat to anyone's safety on the premises.
This role supports the retail manager as the security eyes and mind of the store, and completes the goals and directives for security and hospitality provided by the retail and senior management.
The Security Specialist performs a security training for all new hires and refresher trainings to keep all staff current.
This role reviews staff members and communicates the need for any follow up training with the store manager.
This role promotes de-escalation techniques and is a model for maintaining composure under stress.
The Security Specialist is an investigative role and uses the backend systems for inventory and surveillance to confirm transaction errors that have occurred are not criminal.
This role submits a report and records data in an assigned log to confirm investigations are complete.
The Security Specialist provides a report for security incidents that happen on the site, including in the parking lot.
In the event of law enforcement requesting information, the Security Specialist provides those needs to the store manager for review.
This role is the point person if law enforcement has reason to be on our site.
The Security Specialist reports to the retail manager.
This is a full-time position that requires availability on nights, weekends, and holidays.
Competencies & Skills Strong leadership skills Understanding of criminal and civil law as it applies to retail environments Strong working knowledge of physical site security systems Excellent analytical and investigative skills Can manage security issues in an ethical manner Must demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities Self-motivated individual who can be successful in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision Proficient skill with Microsoft applications Skilled at de-escalation Strong attention to detail Calm and clear under pressure Self-disciplined Deep understanding of compliance Crowd management and safety Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly Ability to bend, reach, squat and stand for extended periods of time Job Duties Provide a safe environment for our staff and our guests Maintain the safety and security of the entire premises Prevent unlawful access into the retail by minors Prevent theft and diversion of cannabis and cannabis products Manage the security systems on the premises:
surveillance, alarms, and access control Conduct surveillance investigations and provide a full report within 24 hours of discovery of inventory issue Provide reports for any and all security issues that may arise Provide after hours on-call support as needed Provide security for receiving cannabis deliveries Perform daily inspections of the security systems on the premises to confirm camera health, door locking performance, clear pathways, and functional lighting Perform daily inspections to confirm compliance with visitor logs, and cannabis intake procedures and communicate any issue with the retail manager Perform daily briefs with the lobby staff to confirm proper checking of guest identification and proper use of the Veriscan software and reference guides for out of state identification Provide a full security training for all new retail staff of the store in addition to refresher training to keep staff current Providing training and reminders on use of walkie-talkies and the established communication codes Schedule and oversee a monthly audit of all security systems.
Each audit requires a report to be filed at the retail and with senior management Provide a monthly report to the retail management describing the state of security at the store and any improvements that can be made Create a positive impression for every guest Confirm there is not loitering on the property and provide techniques to the staff for addressing any concern of loitering Respectfully escort people off the property as necessary for safety Provide assistance with line control as needed to manage the flow of guests into the retail Communicate issues or concerns with our security systems vendors Be a point of contact for law enforcement or emergency services responding to an incident on the site Support investigations of any incidents that occur on the site by reviewing surveillance and access control records Write reports for any incident that occurs on the site.
These reports are completed on a template and are shared with the compliance manager and ultimately with the Cannabis Control Commission Coordinate the recurring emergency response trainings with the retail manager Maintain awareness of any security concerns or situations in the area surrounding our retail store Participate in meetings with store manager to increase awareness of safety issues as well as to present ideas for further development of our security systems Maintain confidentiality with regard to all investigations, incidents on the site, or other privileged information learned while performing job duties Knowledge & Education Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required 5
years of security, law enforcement, or related experience Requirements Must be 21
of age and have a driver's license Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

High School Diploma and 3 years of professional security experience.
